“No Words,” Part 1
Author and Photographer Kevin Adonis Browne performs an excerpt of his essay, “No Words.” The full text and self-portraits appear in Brick: a Literary Journal, Issue 106 (December 2020). Selected notes from the essay appear as vignettes that accompany the reading.
The entire series—including the printed word, the performance, vignettes, and their distribution—is a deliberative meditation on Black being, of being undone, and of Black life in perpetual imagination of itself. It exists somewhere between a search for peace, a need for justice, and a desire to breathe.
